Isaiah 49:15 – ‘Yet will I not forget thee.’
Let’s be honest. There are days when it feels like the world has moved on without you. The phone barely rings. People you once heard from all the time are busy now. You sit in a quiet room and wonder, ‘Does anyone even think about me anymore?’
It’s a real feeling — and it’s not just about loneliness. It’s about wanting to know your life still matters.
But I came today to tell you: Jehovah sees you. You are not forgotten. You are not invisible. You are still valuable to God.
Jehovah, thank you for always noticing us. Even when the world forgets our name, You call us your children. Remind us that we are never alone. Help us to feel your presence when life grows quiet. In Jesus’ name—Amen.
Isaiah 49:15 is one of the most powerful promises in scripture. ‘Can a woman forget her sucking child…? Yet will I not forget thee.’ Even if a mother could forget her own child, God says he never will forget you.
That’s a deep kind of love. That’s a love that doesn’t fade with time or distance. It’s not based on how many friends you have, how active your life is, or how healthy you feel. God’s love is permanent.
When you feel forgotten, turn your heart toward the one who holds your name in the palm of his hand.
As we age, it’s natural for the pace of life to slow down. Children grow up and build lives of their own. Friends move away or pass on. Holidays come and go with fewer faces around the table.
That quiet space can start to feel heavy. And if we’re not careful, the enemy will use that silence to plant seeds of doubt: ‘Nobody cares. You don’t matter anymore.’
But let me be clear: That voice is a lie.
You matter. Your presence still brings warmth. Your prayers still move mountains. Your testimony still teaches.
I once visited a woman in her 90s. Her family lived far away, and most of her days were spent sitting by the window, reading the word and watching the birds outside. When I asked her if she ever felt forgotten, she said something I never forgot. She said, ‘Maybe by man — but never by God. He walks this room with me every day.’
That’s the kind of faith that pushes back against isolation.
**God Sees What Others Miss**
Jehovah sees your morning routines. He hears the whispered prayers before you get out of bed. He notices the way you still make time for others, even when you’re tired. He watches how you quietly keep the faith when no one else is around.
God doesn’t overlook the details. And he certainly doesn’t overlook you.
While others may scroll past your name or forget to call, your name is written on the heart of God. You are remembered. You are valued.
Feeling forgotten is also a sign that we’re wired for connection. God made us for fellowship. So when those connections break or thin out, it leaves a void.
Don’t be afraid to reach out. Make that call. Send that card. Go to that bible study. The enemy wants you isolated — but God wants you involved.
Sometimes the people around you don’t realize you’re feeling lonely. Speak up. Let them know. Let them show up for you.
And let’s flip the question: Who around you might be feeling forgotten too? Who in your family or your church might be sitting in silence, hoping for someone to notice?
Be the one who notices. Write a letter. Make a call. Show someone else they’re not alone. You never know how far your kindness might reach.
When you encourage others, you often find your own heart lifted too.
If your routine feels empty, build a new one. Schedule time to walk with God. Volunteer at your church or community center. Start a prayer list. Read a new book of the bible each month. Leave voice messages of encouragement for your grandchildren.
These aren’t just activities — they’re ministry. They’re life. They’re reminders that your time is still rich with purpose.
This week, choose one way to remind yourself — and someone else — that they are not forgotten:
— Write a letter or a text to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while.
— Start a journal where you write prayers for people by name.
— Reach out to someone who might be feeling isolated.
— Memorize Isaiah 49:15 and repeat it every morning.
God remembers. Even when others don’t. Even when life gets quiet, you are not lost in the noise.
You’re held, seen, and loved. Keep showing up in faith. Keep standing on the word. Keep trusting that Jehovah never turns his face away.
