Proverbs 13:22 – ‘A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children.’

Let’s talk about legacy — not just what you leave behind, but what you live out now. What you do today, how you treat people, how you respond to challenges — it all adds up to a legacy. When your children and grandchildren think about you, what will they remember most?
We’re not just talking about money or property. We’re talking about spiritual inheritance. About faith that echoes through generations.

Jehovah, let our lives point our families to you. May the choices we make today plant seeds that will grow long after we are gone. Help us be mindful, intentional, and faithful in every moment. In Jesus’ name—Amen.

Legacy is a powerful word. Most people associate it with wealth, wills, and family heirlooms. But the bible gives it a deeper meaning. Proverbs 13:22 doesn’t just suggest we leave behind finances — it reminds us to pass along values.
Are you leaving your family wisdom? Love? Strength in faith? Are they seeing what a godly man or woman looks like when the world gets dark?
Your spiritual legacy is found in the example you set when no one’s looking, in the prayers you pray over your family when they don’t even know it, in the forgiveness you show even when you’ve been wronged.

Your legacy starts with your presence. Were you there? Did your family hear your voice during tough times? Did they see you cry out to God in faith? Did they see you serve, care, give, and love when it wasn’t easy?
Maybe your children have taken paths you don’t understand. Maybe your family is scattered. That doesn’t mean your legacy is lost. It means your legacy is still being written. God doesn’t work on our timeline — He works on His.
Keep praying. Keep loving. Keep setting the example.

In the Old Testament, God often identified people by their lineage: ‘the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.’ That wasn’t just about names. That was about legacy.
Faith passed down, story by story, act by act.
Today, your legacy could be the reason your great-grandchild comes to Christ one day. Your quiet faithfulness now could be the root of someone else’s breakthrough later. Don’t underestimate that.

I knew a man named Brother Ellis. He never preached. Never led a church. But every week, he took a few young men from his neighborhood fishing. During those hours, he talked about life, love, choices, and faith. One of those boys grew up to be a pastor. Another one became a missionary. Brother Ellis never saw a pulpit, but his legacy now spans countries.
That’s what happens when you live what you believe.

Legacy isn’t perfection. You don’t have to have done everything right. God uses flawed people. David made mistakes. Peter denied Jesus. Paul persecuted Christians. But they repented. They changed. They finished strong.
Your legacy doesn’t have to begin at birth — it can begin today. Right now.

Speak life into your home. Start a new tradition — maybe you pray together every Sunday, or you leave a voicemail with a scripture every week. Maybe you start writing your memories and lessons into a journal to pass down. These things may seem small, but they are seeds. Seeds of legacy.
If your family doesn’t walk with God now, don’t stop believing they will. Show them Jesus through you.

1. Record a video or audio message for your children or grandchildren — something they can watch when they need guidance.
2. Write out your favorite scriptures and why they mean something to you.
3. Invite a family member to Bible study or to pray with you.
4. Tell stories from your life that reflect God’s faithfulness.
5. Be the calm voice in chaos. The encourager in crisis. The one who always points back to God.

You may never see the full impact of your legacy — but God sees it. And He multiplies it. What you plant in love, He waters in grace. What you build in faith, He secures in eternity.
Don’t grow weary. Your family may not say it, but they notice your example. One day, they’ll look back and thank God you never gave up.

This week, choose one way to strengthen your legacy:
— Speak words of life to someone who needs it.
— Apologize where you need to.
— Start a notebook of legacy scriptures and lessons.
Your story matters. Your life matters. Your legacy is not only what people remember — it’s what they continue.

Your story matters — and it’s not done yet.
Leave more than money. Leave truth. Leave testimony. Let them hear your voice in prayer, your wisdom in trials, and your faith in every step.
