Season 9 brings it home with themes of deep reflection, finishing strong, and staying hopeful in this life while preparing for the next — always centered in God’s Word.
Romans 8:1 – “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.”
Let’s talk about something we all deal with at some point in life — looking back without regret.
We’ve all made mistakes. We’ve said things we wish we could take back. We’ve made decisions we’d change in a heartbeat if we had the chance. But here’s the truth — living in regret won’t change your past, and it’ll only rob you of peace in the present. That’s why today’s message is about reflecting without condemning yourself.
Romans 8:1 says, ‘There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.’ That means if you’re walking with Christ, your past is covered. It means you can look back and say, ‘Yes, I made mistakes — but grace met me there.’
When you hit a certain age, reflection becomes part of life. You look at what you’ve done, what you didn’t do, who you helped, who you hurt, and all the things in between. It’s easy to get stuck there — reliving the past like a broken record. But Jehovah doesn’t want you stuck. He wants you to grow.
We often carry guilt over things we cannot change — raising our kids, missed opportunities, words we didn’t say, or things we wish we’d done differently. But if you’ve brought those things to God and asked for forgiveness, you’re no longer under judgment. That’s the power of grace. It doesn’t erase the memory, but it removes the penalty.
Think about that: grace says, ‘I remember what happened, but I no longer hold it against you.’ That’s freedom. That’s peace. And that’s what you’re allowed to walk in today. Don’t let regret become your identity. You are more than your worst moments.
So how do you look back without letting regret pull you down?
First, accept that the past is unchangeable — but not unusable. Your mistakes don’t define you, but they can refine you. They can be lessons. They can be testimony. They can be tools to help others avoid the same traps.
Second, thank Jehovah for His mercy. Every morning you wake up is a sign that He’s not done with you yet. His mercies are new every morning — that means you have permission to start fresh.
Third, be honest about your story. Don’t pretend like everything was perfect. That’s not real. Real people mess up. Real people grow. And real people change. Own your journey. Tell the truth about what God brought you through.
Fourth, speak life over your future. Stop saying, ‘If only I had…’ and start saying, ‘From now on I will…’ Your best days may still be ahead — not behind. But you won’t get to them if you keep looking in the rearview mirror.
And finally, forgive yourself. That’s a big one. Sometimes, the hardest person to forgive is the one in the mirror. But if God — the holy, perfect creator — can look at you through the blood of Jesus and say ‘clean,’ then who are you to keep calling yourself dirty?
Romans 8:1 is one of the most powerful scriptures in the bible for those who carry regret. Let’s read it again: ‘There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.’ That means if you’ve come to Christ, there’s no courtroom waiting for you.
You’re not on trial anymore. You’re not under the weight of guilt. You are forgiven. You are free. You are walking in grace.
It’s easy to remember our failures. But God calls us to remember his faithfulness. The enemy loves to remind you of your past, but Jehovah reminds you of your purpose.
So when your mind tries to drag you backward — remind yourself: ‘I’m covered by the blood. I’m redeemed. I’m not who I used to be. I’m walking forward with God’s help.’
Jehovah, thank You for covering our past with Your mercy. Thank You for grace that lifts guilt off our shoulders. Teach us how to reflect without shame, how to learn without being burdened, and how to move forward in freedom. Help us forgive ourselves as You have forgiven us. Let us walk with confidence, knowing that the past has no power over those who are in Christ. In Jesus’ name — Amen.
The past is a chapter — not the whole book. You don’t have to reread it every day. You don’t have to relive it. Let Jehovah write the next chapter with you, one filled with peace, wisdom, and forward motion.
Regret is a heavy burden, but you don’t have to carry it anymore. Lay it down at the cross. Pick up your peace. Keep walking.
