Isaiah 40:31 – ‘But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…’
Ever feel like your faith is running low?
Some days, faith feels like fire—burning bright, full of energy and hope. Other days, it feels like a flicker, barely holding on. That’s real life. That’s part of the journey. But here’s the truth: your faith doesn’t have to be loud to be alive. It just has to endure.
Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…” That scripture doesn’t say we’ll always feel strong. It says our strength will be renewed when we wait—when we trust—when we lean in, even when we’re tired.
Endurance isn’t about having it all together. It’s about holding on when everything inside you wants to let go. It’s about saying, “God, I still believe,” even when you can’t see the way forward. That’s endurance. That’s faith.
Sometimes, we confuse faith with feelings. We think if we don’t feel inspired or joyful, then our faith must be weak. But real faith shows up when your feelings are gone. It shows up when you pray tired, when you praise with tears in your eyes, when you walk forward with shaky legs but a steady heart.
Enduring in faith means choosing to believe when there’s no sign. It means waiting on God’s timing when you want to rush. It means standing still when the storm is loud.
And that kind of faith—it’s powerful. Heaven sees it. Jehovah honors it. It’s not loud, but it’s strong.
Maybe you’re in a season where your energy is low. Maybe life has thrown more at you than you expected. Your body feels weak. Your heart feels tired. And your prayers feel quiet. That’s okay. God doesn’t measure your faith by volume. He measures it by trust.
Every time you whisper, “Help me, Lord,” He hears you. Every time you show up and say, “I’m still here, God,” He sees you. And every moment you stay rooted in him, even when it’s hard, you are growing.
It’s in the pressing moments that your faith gains strength. Just like muscles grow under resistance, so does your spirit. It’s not about avoiding the struggle—it’s about growing through it.
Enduring faith is what keeps you steady when life is unstable. It’s what keeps you kind when people are cruel. It’s what keeps you grounded when everything else is shifting.
And let’s be clear—endurance doesn’t mean perfection. It means persistence. You’re not called to get everything right. You’re called to stay close to God.
Some days you’ll stumble. Some days you’ll question. Some days you’ll feel like you’re moving backwards. But if you’re still showing up in prayer, still leaning into God’s word, still believing—then you’re enduring.
And there’s a promise in that. Isaiah 40:31 says your strength will be renewed. Not just patched up. Renewed. That means fresh strength. New energy. A revived spirit.
But that renewal comes through waiting. Through trusting. Through holding on.
The world may tell you to push harder, to hustle, to keep up. But God tells you to rest in him, to lean on him, to wait on him. And in that waiting, strength comes.
When we endure, we remind the enemy that our faith isn’t built on circumstances. It’s built on Christ. He is our rock, our refuge, our steady hand.
You don’t have to feel strong to be strong. You don’t have to look strong to endure. You just have to keep your eyes on Jesus and take the next faithful step.
Maybe your step today is praying one more time. Or forgiving again. Or reading one verse. Or simply breathing deep and saying, “God, I’m still yours.”
That’s enough.
Jehovah never asked us to be superheroes. He asked us to trust. He asked us to believe. He asked us to endure.
And when we do, even in weakness, we walk in his strength. We walk in grace. We walk in victory—not because of who we are, but because of who he is.
So if today is a weak day, let it be a faithful day. Let it be a day you choose to endure, to wait, and to believe.
Your endurance is worship. Your faith is working. Your hope is growing. And your God is faithful.
Jehovah, renew our strength when we’re tired. Remind us that you never run out of power. Help us endure in faith, even when we feel weak. In Jesus’ name—Amen.
