Ephesians 5:16 – ‘Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.’
Are you living with purpose?
Each day is a gift, not just something to get through. Ask GOD what he wants you to do today. A call. A prayer. A kind word. That’s purpose. You still have it.
We live in a time when it’s easy to fall into routines that make the days blur together. Wake up. Do what’s required. Go to bed. Repeat. But GOD never meant for us to live on autopilot. He created us to live with direction, to walk with meaning, and to fill our time with things that last.
Ephesians 5:16 reminds us to redeem the time. That means to take it seriously—to treat it like something precious. Because once a moment passes, we don’t get it back. And with the days being so uncertain, we can’t afford to waste what we’ve been given.
Living with purpose means being intentional. It means waking up and asking, “GOD, what do you want from me today?” It means paying attention to your life instead of just letting it pass by.
Maybe you’re retired. Maybe your kids are grown. Maybe your calendar isn’t packed like it once was. That doesn’t mean your purpose is over. It just means your purpose looks different now.
You still have value. You still have something to offer. That wisdom you’ve gained, those experiences you’ve survived, the faith you’ve held onto, those are treasures. And someone needs what you have.
Living with purpose also means letting go of the idea that purpose is always something big. Purpose isn’t always preaching to crowds or leading large projects. Sometimes it’s calling someone who’s lonely. Sometimes it’s sitting quietly and listening. Sometimes it’s choosing to forgive.
Every small act of obedience adds up to a meaningful life.
When you live with purpose, you stop wasting time on things that drain your spirit. You stop chasing after what the world says matters. You start choosing joy over jealousy, faith over fear, peace over panic.
You start saying no to things that don’t align with your values, and yes to things that help you grow.
Purpose puts things in perspective. It helps you see that your time matters—not just your schedule, but your spiritual time. The time you spend praying. The time you spend reflecting. The time you spend helping someone else.
Living with purpose also means taking care of your health—physical, emotional, and spiritual. Because when your body is strong, your spirit can serve more freely. When your heart is healed, your love can reach more people. When your mind is clear, your voice becomes a testimony.
We often think time is just ticking away, but time is a gift GOD gave us to fill with meaning.
What are you doing with the time you’ve been given? Are you planting seeds of kindness? Are you building someone’s faith? Are you speaking life into your own journey?
Living with purpose is not about being busy, it’s about being faithful. You can be busy and still be going nowhere. But when you live with intention, even your quietest days become powerful.
Ask yourself: What kind of legacy am I building? What message is my life sending to the people around me? Am I redeeming the time or letting it slip through my fingers?
Purpose gives every moment weight. Every conversation. Every choice. Every prayer.
Even when you don’t feel like you’re doing much, your presence matters. That conversation you had yesterday might stay with someone for years. That prayer you whispered might change a life. That kind word might have saved someone from giving up.
You are still needed. Still called. Still full of purpose.
God doesn’t retire his people. He refines them. He redirects them. Sometimes he slows us down not to sideline us, but to sharpen us.
So if your pace is slower now, use that time to be more intentional. Use your stillness to hear from GOD more clearly. Use your rest to refill others.
You don’t have to do what you did 20 years ago. You just have to do what GOD is asking of you today.
Maybe today it’s checking on a friend. Maybe it’s reading his word. Maybe it’s letting go of something heavy you’ve been carrying. All of it counts when it’s done in faith.
When we redeem the time, we live lives that honor GOD and serve others. We build a life that won’t just be remembered, but one that continues to bless even after we’re gone.
You’re not just passing time. You’re a vessel of purpose. A carrier of wisdom. A light in your family. A prayer warrior in your community.
Don’t let the enemy tell you it’s too late. Don’t let distractions keep you from your calling. Don’t let comfort rob you of your impact.
Time is too short. The days are too important. You still have work to do—and that’s a good thing.
So today, live with purpose. Speak with love. Move with intention. And trust that every moment surrendered to GOD becomes part of something greater.
Let your time reflect your faith. Let your purpose shine.
You’re still needed. You’re still chosen. You’re still full of fire.
Now go live like it.
GOD, help us not to waste time. Show us how to live with meaning and direction. Help us redeem each day, and use our gifts in ways that honor you. In Jesus’ name—Amen.
