Psalms 118:24 – ‘This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.’
Let’s bring this journey to a close by pausing to reflect on something powerful: today — this very moment — is a gift from God. It’s easy to forget that when we’re going through hardships, when pain and stress fill the air. But even on the hardest days, if you woke up, you’ve received something priceless.
Psalm 118:24 reminds us clearly — ‘This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.’ Not tomorrow. Not yesterday. Today.
Jehovah, thank you for each day you give us. Help us to live with eyes open to your blessings, with a heart full of thanks, and with a spirit ready to love and serve. In Jesus’ name—Amen.
How many times have we let a day pass us by without really living in it? We go through routines, we chase responsibilities, and sometimes we just try to make it through. But the truth is — every day, no matter how ordinary it may seem, holds divine purpose.
Living every day like it’s a gift means waking up with expectation. It means looking for beauty in small things. It means choosing gratitude when complaining is easier.
That doesn’t mean every day will be easy. But it does mean every day is sacred.
Gratitude shifts everything. When we start the day with thanks, our perspective changes. A simple cup of coffee becomes a blessing. A phone call becomes a joy. Even the aches in our bones become reminders that we are still here, still alive, still on mission.
Living with gratitude doesn’t mean ignoring hardship. It means remembering God is good even in the middle of it. It means trusting that joy and pain can walk side by side — and we can still choose to rejoice.
We’ve talked in past episodes about pain, purpose, and peace. And it all ties together right here — how we live today. The choices we make, the words we speak, the love we give.
Pain teaches us not to take the good days for granted. Purpose reminds us we are here for more than just ourselves. And peace lets us rest in the knowledge that God is in control.
When we put those three together, we’re able to approach each new sunrise with joy, even if our circumstances don’t change. Because the gift of life is not in having it all — it’s in knowing who gave it to us.
I remember meeting a man named Charles at a church picnic. He was in a wheelchair after a stroke, could barely speak, but every morning he’d raise his hands and say, ‘Thank You, Lord.’
When someone asked him how he could be so positive, he pointed to the sky and then to his heart. He didn’t need many words to say what mattered — that God gave him one more day.
That’s how you live like each day is a gift. Not by waiting for perfection, but by praising God in the middle of your limitations.
Joy is a choice. Every day, we wake up and decide what kind of attitude we will carry. We can choose to complain about what’s missing or rejoice in what we still have.
We can choose to be frustrated or choose to breathe deeply and say, ‘Thank You, Lord, for this moment.’
And joy doesn’t mean loud or dramatic. Sometimes, joy is sitting quietly with a cup of tea and a heart full of peace. Sometimes it’s calling a friend. Sometimes it’s forgiving yourself. Joy comes in many forms, and it starts with recognizing the holiness of today.
God didn’t wake you up today by accident. There’s someone to encourage, something to learn, a moment to experience. Maybe it’s reaching out to your grown children. Maybe it’s writing a prayer for your grandchildren. Maybe it’s smiling at a stranger who’s carrying a heavy burden.
Living with purpose doesn’t mean changing the whole world — it means being faithful in your corner of it.
Give someone a kind word today. Laugh at a memory that once brought you tears. Love someone who doesn’t expect it.
Speak life into a discouraged heart. Show grace to someone who’s struggling. Let your life be proof that God still moves in ordinary people on ordinary days.
The more you pour into others, the more you’ll feel the richness of the gift called life.
Here’s what I challenge you to do today:
— Start the day by reading Psalm 118:24 aloud.
— Write down three things you’re thankful for.
— Do one act of kindness for someone.
— Call or message someone just to say you love them.
— End your day with prayer and gratitude.
Let every day preach the message that you are still walking in God’s grace.
Every day matters. Every sunrise is a new chance. Even on the hard days, you are loved. You are seen. You are still part of God’s plan.
So live like it. Rejoice in it. Praise through it.
Because today — this very day — is a holy gift.
