Welcome back to Just Straight Talk..
I’m R-E SAMPLE, and today we’re going to talk about something that’s been on my heart for a long time — and maybe it’s been on yours too.
Let’s open this up the right way… with prayer.
Jehovah, thank you for this moment. Thank you for every listener who showed up today just needing to feel heard. Let this message remind someone that their voice matters—even when the world goes quiet on them. Help us speak with love and listen with care. In Jesus’ name—Amen.
Why This Topic Matters
Let me be honest with you—there are few things more painful than speaking from the heart and getting no response. You open up, you try to share what’s really going on inside… And all you get is silence, a shrug, a blank look or worse—somebody changing the subject, like you never even spoke. That hurts. And it happens to people all the time. Especially us seniors. Folks think because we’re older, we don’t have much to say. But let me tell you something—we’ve got decades of life, love, and lessons behind every word we speak.
Real Talk—When People Stop Listening
Sometimes people don’t listen because: – They’re distracted. – They think they already know what we’re gonna say. – Or they just don’t value wisdom like they should. Other times… it’s deeper. You might feel like the more honest you are, the more people pull away. Maybe, you’ve shared your feelings with family and they brushed you off. Maybe, you tried to warn someone with love and they snapped at you. Maybe, you prayed for someone and they laughed or ignored it. Let me say this clearly: You are not invisible. And your words still carry weight, whether they hear you or not. My own experience, there have been moments in my life where I said things straight from the soul and felt like I was talking to a wall, but I kept speaking. Not to shout, not to argue, but because I needed to stay true to myself and to God. I’ve learned that just because something or someone isn’t listening right now doesn’t mean the words don’t matter. Sometimes, they’ll remember them later. Sometimes, they’re not ready to receive it yet. And sometimes, you’re planting a seed they’ll come back to when life gets real.
To the Listener Who Feels Ignored If you’re listening today, and you’ve felt ignored, I want you to know that I hear you. I may not know your name. I may not know your story. But I know that pain—and I know you’re not alone. So please, don’t stop speaking from your heart. Don’t let the silence shut you down. Don’t let someone else’s deafness rob you of your voice.
Now let me remind you—this space is clean. We don’t tear people down with foul language. We speak from the heart with respect, and we hold space for each other to grow. Speaking from the heart is a strength—not a weakness. Whether they listen or not… whether they get it or not. Your voice matters. So don’t give up. Don’t bottle it in. And most importantly—keep praying. Because Jehovah hears what people ignore. And he honors the honest heart.
Jehovah, thank you for being the one who always listens. When the world goes quiet, you still lean in. Bless the one listening right now who feels unheard. Wrap them in peace, fill them with strength and remind them their words matter, to you and to someone out there. In Jesus’ name—Amen.
This has been Just Straight Talk, and I’m R-E SAMPLE. Next time, we’ll talk about a powerful subject: As a Black Man—This Is What I’ve Seen and Learned. So come on back for that one, it’s gonna be deep, and it’s gonna be real. Until then—speak your truth, stay respectful, and know that someone out there hears you.
Remember – TRUTH DON’T CHANGE. JUST STRAIGHT TALK
