Proverbs 18:10 – “The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”

This is JUST STRAIGHT TALK. I’m your host, R-E SAMPLE. And today, we’re diving into something that matters more than money, more than fences, more than savings accounts — true security. We live in a world that talks a lot about safety and protection. We buy insurance. We install alarm systems. We check the locks at night. And don’t get me wrong — those things are wise. But none of them can compare to the security we find in Jehovah.

True security is more than protection from danger. It’s peace in the middle of uncertainty. It’s confidence when everything else feels shaky. And it comes from knowing, deep down, that Jehovah has us covered — completely.

Jehovah God, we thank you for being our strong tower, our protector, and our peace. In a world full of change and chaos, you remain the same. Help us shift our trust from temporary things to you. Teach us how to rest in your care, and not be ruled by fear. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

We all want to feel safe. It’s natural. Safety means shelter, stability, and peace of mind. That’s why we save money. That’s why we lock our doors. That’s why we go to the doctor, wear seatbelts, and try to plan ahead. These are all good things — responsible things. But the truth is, even our best plans can fail. Banks close. Health declines. People let us down. Markets crash. Storms hit. What then?

That’s where true security comes in. Proverbs 18:10 tells us, “The name of the lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” That’s not just poetic language. That’s a promise. It means when the world shakes, we run to Jehovah — and we are safe.

Notice something: it doesn’t say we’re safe from every problem. It says we are safe in him. There’s a difference. Storms still come. But when our trust is in God, we’re anchored. We may feel the wind, but we won’t be swept away.

Now let’s talk practically. We spend a lot of time, energy, and money trying to secure our lives. Cameras, locks, passwords, life insurance, retirement plans — and again, those are good. But how much time are we investing in securing our soul? Are we building a relationship with God that’s stronger than our Wi-Fi signal? Are we checking in with him more than we check our bank balance?

Here’s a good question to ask yourself: What makes me feel safe? If your answer is your savings account, your home, or even a person, you’re leaning on something temporary. Those things can disappear. Jehovah cannot. He’s eternal. He’s steady. And He never fails.

True security means trusting in something — Someone — who cannot be moved. It means saying, “Even if everything falls apart, I will not.” because my foundation is not in things — it’s in God.

And that’s not just talk. That’s a choice you make every day. It’s a habit. A discipline. When fear creeps in — and it will — remind yourself: “Jehovah is my strong tower.” Say it out loud. Write it on your mirror. Put it in your phone. Make it your anthem.

True security also means we don’t have to chase the world’s approval. Some people work themselves sick trying to prove they’re successful, or that they’ve “made it.” But the most secure people aren’t the flashiest — they’re the most grounded. They know who they are in God. They know their value doesn’t change with their income.

Security also comes from living with integrity. When you walk in truth, you don’t have to hide. You sleep better. You speak freely. You carry less stress. A clean conscience is a strong defense.

And then there’s community. Real security isn’t just about what you build — it’s about who you build with. Surround yourself with people who pray, who love truth, who encourage you to trust God. That circle becomes part of your safety net. We were never meant to walk this life alone.

Let’s talk about fear for a moment. Fear is a liar. It tells you you’re not safe, that something bad is always coming, that you have to do more, have more, control more. But Jehovah says, “Fear not, for I am with you.” That’s real security — not the absence of danger, but the presence of God.

So how do we live it out? Start with small daily choices. Begin your morning with prayer. Before checking the news, check in with Jehovah. End your day thanking him for his protection — even the protection you didn’t see. Memorize scriptures like Psalm 91, Isaiah 41:10, and today’s verse, Proverbs 18:10. Let God’s Word shape your definition of safety.

And yes — be wise. Use locks. Save money. Take your medicine. But do it all knowing that your ultimate safety isn’t in any of those things. It’s in the one who made you, saved you, and sustains you.

True security isn’t locked behind a gate or buried in a savings account. It’s found in the name of the lord. When you build your life on that foundation, you can face anything — not because you’re strong, but because he is. You can rest, not because everything’s perfect, but because he’s holding you steady.

So if you’re feeling anxious today, pause and breathe. Call on his name. And remember: the righteous run to him — and are safe.

I’m R-E SAMPLE with JUST STRAIGHT TALK. Thank you for joining me today. In a shaky world, stay anchored in the one who never changes. Trust in Jehovah — your strong tower. I’ll see you next time.
