Matthew 6:33 – “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Welcome to JUST STRAIGHT TALK. I’m your host, R-E SAMPLE. Today we’re talking about a life principle that brings both peace and power — simplicity. Now, when most people hear the word “simplify,” they think of cleaning out closets or downsizing, and that’s part of it. But I want us to go deeper. This is about simplifying not only what’s around you — but also what’s inside of you.

Simplifying your life is more than getting rid of things. It’s about letting go of what doesn’t feed your soul and making space for what truly matters — faith, peace, love, purpose. And the beautiful part is, when we strip away the distractions, Jehovah becomes easier to hear.

Jehovah, thank you for your word, for peace, and for the quiet power of simplicity. Help us to remove what clutters our lives and hearts. Teach us to seek hou first, above all else. Help us find joy not in having more, but in needing less. May our hearts be still, and our focus be clear. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Simplicity is not about living in poverty or having nothing. It’s about being rich in the things that count. Jesus said, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God.” That’s a powerful statement. When you start with him — not money, not success, not approval, not even health — but him, everything else falls into place.

Life gets noisy. Too many voices, too many choices, too many distractions. The news, social media, obligations, comparisons, and pressures all pile up. But what if you cleared the noise? What if you started each day in silence, with your bible open, talking to God, and letting him talk to you?

Simplicity means saying no to drama. That includes family drama, church drama, and drama in your own mind. It means not getting involved in every argument, not needing to prove yourself, not chasing validation from others. Peace is more valuable than being right.

Simplicity also means saying yes to what brings life. Time with loved ones. Nature. Rest. Laughter. Scripture. Prayer. These things cost nothing but bring joy beyond money.

One powerful practice? Read a chapter of Proverbs each day. There are 31 chapters — one for each day of the month. Proverbs gives us wisdom, guidance, and correction. It keeps your spirit sharp and your path clear.

Declutter your calendar. You don’t have to attend everything. If an event drains you, say no. If a person constantly brings stress, it’s okay to love them from a distance. Your energy is sacred. Protect it.

Look at your daily habits. Do they draw you closer to God or farther away? Do they build you up or wear you down? Replace social scrolling with prayer. Replace gossip with gratitude. Replace worry with worship.

Simplifying also applies to money. Are we overextending ourselves to impress others? Are we buying things we don’t need? Jehovah doesn’t need us to live big — He wants us to live wisely. A simple, steady life with purpose is more powerful than one packed with possessions.

Let’s talk about your space. Is your home peaceful or cluttered? Even a small space can be a place of rest if it’s organized and calm. Pick one room and simplify it. Get rid of things you don’t use. Keep only what brings value. Let your surroundings reflect your spirit — peaceful, clean, centered.

Simplifying also means setting spiritual boundaries. Not every invitation deserves a yes. Not every opinion needs a response. Not every habit deserves to stay. Learn to say, “That’s not for me,” and move on with grace.

And here’s the truth: Simplicity strengthens faith. Why? Because it clears the way for focus. When you’re not buried under stuff, stress, or schedules, you can hear from God more clearly. You become more sensitive to his whispers and more aligned with his will.

Ask yourself today: What’s one thing I can let go of — physically, emotionally, or spiritually — that will make room for more peace? Maybe it’s a grudge. Maybe it’s a stack of paperwork. Maybe it’s fear. Let it go.

Sometimes we hold onto clutter because we’re afraid. Afraid we might need it one day. Afraid of losing control. But Jehovah asks us to walk by faith, not fear. And faith often means letting go before we see the full picture.

The world teaches us to chase more — more stuff, more likes, more recognition. But the Spirit teaches us to rest in what we already have. The richest people in the world are not those with the most, but those who need the least.

Simplicity is a gift you give yourself. It’s a doorway to clarity, to strength, and to a deeper relationship with Jehovah. It’s not about having nothing — it’s about choosing what matters most.

Today, take a moment to breathe. Look around. Look within. Ask Jehovah to show you what’s clutter and what’s calling. Then follow his voice. Step by step, you’ll find freedom, peace, and renewed faith.

I’m R-E SAMPLE with JUST STRAIGHT TALK. Thank you for joining me today. Remember, less isn’t empty — it’s full of what matters. Choose peace. Choose focus. Choose Jehovah first. I’ll see you next time.
