Isaiah 46:4 – “And even to your old age I am he… I will carry you.”
Welcome back to JUST STRAIGHT TALK. I’m R-E SAMPLE. Today we’re tackling a quiet but powerful topic — what it means to feel forgotten. And more importantly, what it means to still have purpose, especially in the later chapters of life.
Let me ask you something: Have you ever walked into a room and felt invisible? Like the world has moved on without you? Maybe you’re not working anymore, the kids are grown, and the phone doesn’t ring like it used to. That feeling of being overlooked — it’s real.
But I came to remind you today — **you are not forgotten.** Not by God. Not by your purpose. Not by your value. Isaiah 46:4 says, “Even to your old age I am he… I will carry you.” GOD, doesn’t check out when you turn sixty or seventy or eighty. He draws even closer.
Jehovah God, thank you for walking with us through every stage of life. Remind us that we are not discarded, not done, not forgotten. Help us to find peace, confidence, and strength in knowing that you still have plans for us. Use us for your glory — every day we are alive. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
You Still Have Purpose
Purpose isn’t just about having a job or raising kids. Purpose is about being a vessel — being someone Jehovah can use wherever you are, however old you are.
If you’re still breathing, you still have something to give:
– A story to share.
– A hand to lend.
– A prayer to offer.
– A kind word to speak.
– A lesson to teach.
The world may not see the value in your age, but Jehovah sees **experience**. He sees **strength**. He sees **a life that has walked through fire and still stands**.
You may not be running around like you once did. But your words have power. Your wisdom has weight. Your prayers carry anointing.
Walking in Purpose When the World Overlooks You
Reframe How You See “Purpose”
– Purpose doesn’t always mean “big.”
– Sometimes your purpose today is to smile at the checkout clerk, to encourage a neighbor, or to pray for someone in need.
Revisit Your Gifts
– What do you still enjoy doing? Can you knit blankets for newborns? Cook for someone sick? Write letters? Share your testimony?
– Your talents are still tools — use them.
Volunteer in Small Ways
– Call your church. Ask if someone needs a ride, a meal, or a friendly visit.
– Community centers often need elders to mentor, speak, or just be present.
Start a Daily Purpose Journal
– Each morning, write down one small way you’ll bless someone — even if it’s just a phone call.
– At the end of the day, reflect on how Jehovah used you.
Speak Life Over Yourself
– Say it out loud: “I still matter. I still have purpose. God still carries me.”
– Don’t let loneliness rewrite the truth of your value.
God Hasn’t Forgotten You
Let’s bring this into the spiritual heart of it all. Jehovah hasn’t forgotten you. In fact, you’re at a point in life where your voice is more valuable than ever. You’ve seen more. You’ve survived more. And you’ve got more wisdom in your spirit than many who are half your age.
When Isaiah wrote, “I will carry you,” he wasn’t talking about the young. He was talking about the old — those who’ve given and served and endured. That’s who God promises to carry.
You may feel like you’re just “coasting” through your later years, but God says **you’re still called**. Your prayer can shift the atmosphere in your home. Your faith can anchor your grandchildren. Your story can teach the next generation how to overcome.
Now let me speak to your heart. Maybe today feels heavy. Maybe you’ve lost people. Maybe you’ve heard more silence than laughter lately. But hear me clearly: **you are not in the way — you are in the will of God.**
You are still in his plan. He didn’t bring you this far to put you on a shelf. You are not done. You’re still becoming. And every wrinkle, every gray hair, every scar — it’s proof that you’ve lived. And that you still have more to live for.
Make a list of things you love. People you want to bless. Lessons you want to leave behind. And then — one by one — do them. Don’t wait for someone else to call you “useful.” Call yourself that. Because God already does.
Jehovah God, thank you for never letting go of us — not in our youth, and not in our old age. Thank you for reminding us that our value is not tied to what the world sees, but to who you say we are. Help us to find our purpose every day — in small moments, in kind words, in faithful prayers. Let us feel seen. Let us feel needed. Let us feel alive with purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
I’m R-E SAMPLE, and this has been JUST STRAIGHT TALK. You’re still here — and that means you still matter. Walk in that truth. Live in that purpose. And I’ll see you next time.
